Ascendant was established in 2026 to provide more choice to Nevada’s Self-Insured associations with respect to workers' compensation coverage.
Ascendant is not an insurance company, but does act like an insurer for workers’ compensation. This includes collecting assessments/premiums, managing the third-party administrator for claims administration, setting rates and performing underwriting, and working with insurance brokers. Ascendant takes an active role in helping associations members create a culture of safety, and navigate the claims process while helping employees get back to work. Contrary to commercial insurance carriers, Ascendant does not have a financial motive to delay and deny needed medical coverage for insured workers.
Ascendant is run by Nevadans who have experience in Nevada. The focus of Ascendant is to provide value and to ensure financial stability of the managed associations. The focus is not to drive profits, but rather to keep rates reasonable and help members to keep their workplace safe. Ascendant looks to create efficient processes and leverage technology to keep administrative fees reasonable.
The Ascendant Team has vast experience in self-insured group administration, state compliance, operations and claims management.
NO, there is no action that needs to be taken by members regarding the transition. The workers’ compensation coverage remains with the Nevada Transportation Network Self-Insured Group (NTNSIG).
No. The Nevada Transportation Network Self Insured Group (NTNSIG) is still providing the coverage of record. The only change will be in administration with Ascendant Nevada taking on the role of Administrator of the NTNSIG. The certificates previously issued for the 2026 policy year are still in effect and active. Additionally, Ascendant will be able to provide any additional certificates as needed starting April 1, 2026.
YES! The NTNSIG offers a great alternative to commercial workers’ compensation insurance coverage.
No. The current rates and RAF's will remain in effect until 1/1/2027.
The payroll cap change is effective on October 1, 2026, under Nevada state law, so we are not anticipating any changes this calendar year. The Ascendant team will be providing more information as we approach 2027.
For the month of March 2026 (due by April 15th), members will still use the Pro Group Management payment portal. Beginning with the April 2026 assessment (due by May 15th), members will pay using the Ascendant Nevada website (www.ascendantnv.com). Members will receive more detailed information on this transition.
No. Ascendant has contracted with a nationally recognized leader in Safety Programs - Ironwood Business Consulting. The safety services provided will be more member centric and Members will have more control as to what services are needed and provided. Members will also have access to a 24-hour crisis line as well as Human Resources consulting.
Effective May 1, 2026, all new and existing workers’ compensation claims will be managed by our new contracted third-party administrator (TPA) – CCMSI (www.ccmsi.com). This new TPA works throughout the country and has strong roots in Nevada with offices in Las Vegas, Reno and Carson City. For any new or existing claim prior to May 1, Members will still send their documents to ARMI. If you have any questions regarding claims, please email Larae Polson at Larae@ascendantnv.com.
